2020 Noosa Classic Cycling Event Sun 16th Aug
There is the opportunity to cycle through the beautiful Noosa hinterland on the 160 km Noosa Classic road cycling gran fondo event. In addition there are 2 alternative courses which are less challenging that also travel through this fabulous countryside, so come and spend the weekend and also enjoy Noosa's mild winter weather.
The three courses all start in Tewantin which is a short bike ride from Hastings St, the most arduous is the Maxi Classic, a testing 160km ride through the beautiful Noosa countryside. This course will take you across mountains, through verdant valleys and historic towns and includes the infamous Cootharaba King of the Mountain (KOM) climb where there is nearly 2,000m of climbing.
The second course is the Challenge Classic, a 120km ride for those not quite ready for the Maxi Classic but still want a long-distance ride. The course including the hills, historic towns and fabulous hinterland scenery and as its name suggests the challenge entails over 1400m of climbing, including the Cootharaba KOM climb.
The third course a new one for 2020 is the Rouleurs Classic a 65 km ride into the hinterland giving you a beautiful ride and the challenge of a climb, as it includes the renown Black Mountain. On the return journey there is the opportunity to recharge in the beautiful town of Pomona before heading back to the Village for more refreshments.
Once you cross the finish line exhausted but happy to have completed the rides it’s time to relax with friends at the Noosa Classic village. Here you’ll find a selection of craft beers and fine wines along with a choice of gourmet food stalls with local produce. The event village is a lively centre of activity and entertainment including live music and childrens’ activities as riders cross the finish line during the day.
